EMDR Therapy

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a well-researched, evidence-based therapy that helps your brain heal from overwhelming experiences. EMDR helps reprocess traumatic memories, so they no longer hold power over your daily life. It’s used worldwide to treat PTSD, anxiety, and emotional wounds that don’t fade on their own.

We use bilateral stimulation (like eye movements or tapping) to help your brain and body release and integrate painful experiences, often reducing symptoms like anxiety, nightmares, flashbacks, and emotional overwhelm.

“Trauma is a wordless story our body tells itself about what is safe and what is a threat.”

-Resmaa Menakem, My Grandmother's Hands

How EMDR therapy Works

When trauma overwhelms your brain, it can’t process the experience fully. That memory gets “stuck,” leading to anxiety, nightmares, overreactions, or feeling on edge. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation—like eye movements or gentle tapping—while you focus on the memory. This helps your brain rewire the experience and finally let it go.

You do not have to tell me all the details of what happened for EMDR to be successful. You don’t relive the trauma, and the goal isn’t to forget—it’s to feel safe, present, and in control again.

You’re Not Overreacting —

You’re Protecting Yourself

If you’ve been told you’re “too sensitive” or feel stuck in survival mode, you’re not alone.

EMDR goes deeper than coping skills alone. It helps heal the root pain—not just manage the symptoms.

EMDR therapy can help you move forward with more peace, stronger relationships, and a renewed sense of self.
