frequently asked questions
Is therapy with you confidential?
Protecting your privacy and confidentiality is of the utmost importance to me. For therapy to be helpful you need to feel safe to share anything here. Everything you share in therapy is confidential with a few exceptions we will cover before your first session.
What can I expect in a session?
Many people are nervous about beginning therapy, especially given the personal nature of some of the experience you will share. Therapy usually starts with discussing your goals. The first few sessions we will be gathering more information to get to know you, your family, and your relationship before beginning working on your goals. How we work towards your goals will be different depending on if you are coming in for individual or relationship therapy and I am happy to explore more of what this might look like with you in an introductory phone call.
What if my partner does not want to come into therapy?
It is very common for one partner to be more open to the idea of couples therapy than the other and there are so many reasons people are hesitant about therapy. I am happy to have a conversation with your partner(s) to discuss their fears about coming in for couple’s therapy and to provide them with more information to help them decide if it is a good fit.
